Louis Francois Phillipe Drouet was born in Amsterdam in 1792. He was appointed to the court of the Dutch king Ludwig Bonaparte at the age of 15. Some time after 1810 he came to the court of Emperor Napoleon himself, and in 1815 he was granted the same position by King Louis V. Drouet's work as a composer concentrates completely on the flute. The "Cent etudes pour la flute Op. 126" are regarded as his most important work. This edition is one of his 10 flute concertos.
