This composition was inspired by Ravel's Toccata from Le Tombeau de Couperin, with its harmonic variety coupled with a rhythmic unity. The melodic aspect here is not important, the energy and harmonic shifts being the primary focus here. The time signature is 7. The basic motion of each measure does not vary until the finale of the piece. Pedal indication is found right after the short introductory phrase.
