Inspired by PIETA, Michelangelo's famous statue of Mary holding the life-less body of Jesus in her arms, this latest collaboration of Rev. Privette and Lani Smith team presents a special opportunity for worshippers to grasp the tragic depth and texture of the events of Holy Week. Once we have recalled the tragedy of Holy Week, we come to appreciate more completely the joyful message of Easter Sunday, that through the resurrection of Jesus, God is truly victorious over evil and death, and that even the sorrow and pain of a mother, who loses her first-born son, leads to joy and exultation in his new life with God. Imaginative new settings of familiar hymns and original music enhance the narrative of the final week of Jesus' life.
